As of now I have integrated the nicest online services: LinkedIn, WordPress, Plaxo, FaceBook and the desktop (Firefox and tweetdeck) now all use twitter to update any activity I have had.
Now I will have to be careful what I do, har har..
Last week I’ve been to London again for my last Red Hat course.. With this I have achieved my RHCA status.
Am I happy about this? no doubt.. It taught me well about several enterprise implementations of Red Hat products that enhanced my knowledge on those topics towards the datacenter as a whole. Now with that knowledge I’ll be able to implement and maintain datacenters better and decide what products are good or better than others.
Hopefully in the near future this will help me with additional job opportunities within my work right now.
Now I have to look further what trainings to take next
Hi again,
Just today I have upgraded my Fedora 9 IPA-server to the latest Fedora version, namely Fedora 10.
As reckless can one be.. just upgrade the system (with all of its db4 libraries), while the ipa instance is still running, increasing the risk of corrupting the (live) berkeley databases that are the back-end of the ldap instances.
I managed to fix the problems I encountered.. read on to read about my investigation and how I solved the problem, it might be of use if you happen to have the same symptoms . . .
Using Dvorak, I sure have the idea I am an ‘above average’ typist. Though my work does not need real typing speed, it is nice to notice the speed improvement over time and it sure helps in typing code rather easy..
Unfortunately, HP ILO (C Class Blades, so ILO2) does not work well together with Google Chrome..
I don’t know why, but Chrome doesn’t proceed from ‘Loading’ to the login screen.. This issue is rather annoying, as this is a major blocker in us being able to adopt this new browser.
Why do we want to adopt this browser?.. That is because it has nice features, like very fast javascript rendering, the Safari browser being used and the possibility to turn web pages into applications with the ‘create shortcut’ option.
Last but not least, Chrome will be multi platform once it ends Beta phase, which we endorse.
Yes.. Time is approaching.. yet two modules to go before I will be RHCA.. finally. I think it will be of value to be certified.. it is a new milestone in my Linux carreer.. it certifies my knowledge which I have gained in the last 12 years of Linux enthousiasm.
The last module will be next year, in February. I want to have RHCSS in February as well, so let’s hope all will work out fine..
Yes.. I finally got it working.. not granting this issue much time, it took a while for me to have my Fedora 9 machine working within a VMWare workstation session…
What was wrong? The mouse pointer was not synchronized well. The guest ’saw’ my pointer on other places than where my actual mouse was.
The solution? as suggested by this blog, I modified the xorg.conf, and voila, I had it going.. now I can continue my Fedora Directory server quest while using Gentoo Linux as my host machine.
Thanks, tapman!
With the use of the ATI fglrx driver on Gentoo, the frustrations are far from over.
My configuration:
The problem: Besides known issues I noticed new problems with the current kernel on this driver:
I ended up switching to the opengl of xorg-x11, but issue 2 remains.
with the xorg-x11 renderer, at least my screensaver works as expected; with the fglrx driver I need to enter text mode (ctrl-alt F1) to kill gnome-screensaver-gl-helper (two times, for each screen) in order to get my unlock password popup again.
I sure hope ati will get their development and support department sorted, as rumors that NVidia is having better support doesn’t make me happyi.
I can’t understand why, but as a Dvorak typist I run into problems with GNOME. GNOME has a nice feature to switch the keyboard lay-out from the default, QWERTY, to the Dvorak layout.
But, it doesn’t (reliably) work for Ctrl and Alt keys. I am not sure what causes the troubles, but according to this bug report at gnome.org it is due to some low-level interpretation of the keyboard strokes.
What worries me is that it takes so long for such a report to get handled with. It is a report dating from 2005 and still (10/2008) has the status NEW.
I hope to be able to report progress on this at any time
