Passed for RHCA

Last week I’ve been to London again for my last Red Hat course.. With this I have achieved my RHCA status.

Am I happy about this? no doubt.. It taught me well about several enterprise implementations of Red Hat products that enhanced my knowledge on those topics towards the datacenter as a whole. Now . . . → Read More: Passed for RHCA

Upgrade Fedora 9 to 10, with IPA-server

Hi again,

Just today I have upgraded my Fedora 9 IPA-server to the latest Fedora version, namely Fedora 10.

As reckless can one be.. just upgrade the system (with all of its db4 libraries), while the ipa instance is still running, increasing the risk of corrupting the (live) berkeley databases that are the back-end of the ldap instances.

I managed to fix the problems I encountered.. read on to read about my investigation and how I solved the problem, it might be of use if you happen to have the same symptoms . . .

Kattenbroek connected to fiber…

It finally is taking off.. Don’t know how long until it gets actually connected, but Kattenbroek (the area of Amersfoort I live in) has an initiative started to get connected to the fiber network. Therefore, I happily show the following banner:

Writing speed

Using Dvorak, I sure have the idea I am an ‘above average’ typist. Though my work does not need real typing speed, it is nice to notice the speed improvement over time and it sure helps in typing code rather easy..

It’s Drivel.. It works well on Linux and seems to be the tool that actually makes me post blogs without me needing to use the browser 😉

Even subjects and a category can be added… though I miss the possibility to select multiple categories, nor . . . → Read More: For everything a first time

Google Chrome does not work with HP ILO interface

Unfortunately, HP ILO (C Class Blades, so ILO2) does not work well together with Google Chrome..

I don’t know why, but Chrome doesn’t proceed from ‘Loading’ to the login screen.. This issue is rather annoying, as this is a major blocker in us being able to adopt this new browser.

Why do we want . . . → Read More: Google Chrome does not work with HP ILO interface

A successful dive, at last

Last Sunday, I had my first successful dive in about a year…

Last week I tried as well, but I was unlucky not to be able to clear my ears, disabling the descent below 3 meters.

But last Sunday, it was awesome, in the nice water of Dutch Vinkeveen, I saw a snoek, was . . . → Read More: A successful dive, at last

Fedora 9 finally working in VMWare guest

Yes.. I finally got it working.. not granting this issue much time, it took a while for me to have my Fedora 9 machine working within a VMWare workstation session…

What was wrong? The mouse pointer was not synchronized well. The guest ‘saw’ my pointer on other places than where my actual mouse was.
